Finding The Ability To Relax Is Often Difficult

I am exceedingly fortunate to have a disposition which is not easy to become uptight or nervous. But when something does arise to really charge me up, I have often found it very hard to unwind. And, I usually just have to sit down and think of something pleasant until I loosen up. These times are basically when I become angry, and I mean really angry. I can almost count the times I remember doing so on the fingers of one hand.
One thing I have learned just in recent years, especially when I have any difficulty in falling asleep, is to first get as comfortable as possible and then close my eyes and contemplate the lack of seeing. I try and concentrate on the inside of my eyelids and (I don’t know if this is how others find it) there are certain slow movements of shadowy things going on in my eyes.
And if I can keep my thoughts on those, I find that the next thing I know, it is morning.
There are numerous things which can untie the knots under certain circumstances. At one time, a can of beer would handle mine quite well. I decided to become a teetotaler though when my kids were small.
If you have an obliging wife, a good backrub can work wonders. There is not much that a backrub won’t cure. And when my baby girls were young, sometimes I could buy a foot rubbing for a dime. Bless their tiny loving hearts and their wonderfully soft hands.
Soft dreamy music can also relax me, once more than now. I used to put Montevani or Henri Mancini on our record changer and I’d fall asleep.
I’ve heard many say that a warm glass of milk will relax one. The problem is, I don’t like warm milk. And if I drink it too cold, it will give me a terrific brain-freeze. By the way, if you are easy to get that horrific pain, you have irritated sinuses.
I hope all of you are able to sleep good tonight. I can hardly wait.
Some character, I’ve forgotten who, said that he had read where everyone should do at least two things every day that they disliked doing. And he said that he did that all his life. He had gone to bed and he had gotten up. I usually do a few things I don’t like to do, but going to bed and getting up are not included in those. I can hardly wait to get in bed at night…7:30 is too late. And I can hardly make myself stay in bed until 4:00 A.M.
Good night.

Sleep well.....Thank you Steve, for reading and the comment. Yes it all comes from being raised that way. I was eight years old before we had electricity in our area. Most farmers went to bed shortly after dark and rose at the crack of dawn. I've always loved the morning dawn and fortunately I have seen well over half of them for 81 years. Probably over two thirds.
I had one job that required that I work from 6:00 P.M. to 2:00 A.M. Man!, I hated that and got off of it as fast as possible. While working for Allied Signal (my last employment) They gave us a choice of coming in at 4:00, 6:00 or 8:00 A.M. I opted for the 4:00, worked 10 hours with a half hour lunch, went home at 2:30 and had most of the evening free..
When I say 7:30 P.M., that is only my goal, often times, it is half an hour to an hour later.
