One can only rarely visit the Pravda.ru website without reading ghastly disaster tales which may be forthcoming upon the U.S., Israel and NATO. These reporters may or may not write their articles strictly on their own, but even if they do so, the paper prints them and no doubt with the approval of the government.
Simple to do with a nuclear device, it's almost a given that some power or group might get put out with the behavior of the U.S.A. and decide to go this route. Note that there are also non-nuclear devices capable of producing an EMP (A Nightmare Scenario for America: Pravda.ru 12/15/2011)
This remark is made after she carefully explains what would happen if no electrical currents would function, even battery powered. There would be no commercial food manufacturers so all that would be available to eat would be what we could gather from nature, hunting animals, wild fruits, nuts, etc.
She makes it sound really bad and indeed it would be under the scenario as she lays out. And, she makes it appear that anyone could do it simply by getting the data from the internet (although she does not say that). What she says is enough to send the uninformed and weak hearted to bed for a sleepless night. But there is much that she does not include.
First of all, the U.S. has been completely aware of this information for several years, which makes it crucial that we have capabilities to avoid such. We have been expanding our installation of missile shields sites and not only that. We have in place throughout the world, in regular locations, plus ships and submarines, the ability to detect any such launch of a nuclear weapon into the atmosphere, and although it could cripple our ability to respond from the U.S. territory, these far distanced mobile launchers could eradicate the nation who sent it up. This widespread deterrent was initiated fo use with only a conventional nuclear attack. But it would also come into play with an EMP.
So far, only the U.S. and Russia have tested the explosion of atmospheric nuclear bombs and are the only ones thus far who have the capacity to do so. China may eventually reach the capability as well as some other nations, but even the radicals do not wish to see their nation annihilated. As long as we keep our defensive guard in place and capable, only a pure fool would attempt such. Unfortunately, there are some fools.

And while we are discussing the scare tactics published in Pravda there is another article titled “A Nuclear Winter wonderland?” by Jagdish Keshav which nastily describes the U.S, UK and France as being on a world wide power grab. I’ll only post one small paragraph to show you his attitude, and you may visit the article also:
The US recently stationed around 3.500 Marines in Australia as a defensive measure. Is it to defend against China in the eventuality of something going wrong? Obviously yes! There can't be any other reason. Unless Australia and the US are afraid of the tribes from Papua New Guinea invading the Island. (Pravda.ru-A Nuclear Winter wonderland? 12/07/2011)
His approach is primarily concerning Iran and the threats the west are considering. His reasoning is only slightly more sane than that of the above article. You may read it here:
