Ways In Which The Bible Proves Itself Inspired Of God

Some avid Christians, when asked why the believe the bible to be God’s infallible word, simply deem it sufficient to reply that the bible claims to be inspired and therefore they are willing to accept that. But that, in itself, is not adequate proof, and will not be accepted by most, if any, unbelievers.

If one does not believe in the existence of God, it is understandably more difficult them to accept the proofs which are evident to those who do. However, they are there and offer sound proof for an unprejudiced mind. But the bible itself, points out those things which are abundant in nature which also prove His existence. We will briefly touch on those scriptures.

because what may be known of God is manifest in them, for God has shown it to them. For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse, because, although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened. Professing to be wise, they became fools, and changed the glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like corruptible man--and birds and four-footed animals and creeping things. (Romans 1:20-23 NKJV)

And the Psalmist wrote this:

The heavens declare the glory of God; And the firmament shows His handiwork. (Psalm19:1 NKJV)

And the writer of the letter to the Hebrews, this:

For every house is built by someone, but He who built all things is God. (Hebrews 3:4)

It is understood of course, that some books claim to be from God when they are not. But on the other hand, it would be highly unlikely if anything written by the inspiration of God did not identify itself as such in some way, and the biblical canon writers do claim such. In fact, in the Old Testament there are over 3,800 of some type of such claim, such as “thus saith the Lord”.

The fact that the bible has proven to be indestructible is also a proof of it’s divine origin. No book ever written or compiled has had the vast amount of effort put forth to destroy it as has the holy bible. Even in the ancient periods when it had not all been written, evil rulers attempted to eradicate it. One such story is revealed in the book of Jeremiah. Chapter 36, an interesting chapter you might want to read, God spoke to Jeremiah the prophet ant told him to write his message on a scroll, to be read before the divided kingdoms of Israel and Judah concerning their wickedness and warn them of coming destruction if they did not repent and return to God.

Jeremiah, who was confined at that time, asked Baruch the scribe to write down all that he told him and to take it and read it before the people, which he did. Several princes later asked him to read it to them, which he did. The princes were frightened and troubled from the reading and told Baruch to take Jeremiah and hide themselves.

They then took the scroll to Jehoiakim, king of Judah and it was read before him by the scribe, Jehudi. Let’s read what transpired here before Jehoiakim’

Now the king was sitting in the winter house in the ninth month, with a fire burning on the hearth before him. And it happened, when Jehudi had read three or four columns, that the king cut it with the scribe's knife and cast it into the fire that was on the hearth, until all the scroll was consumed in the fire that was on the hearth. 24Yet they were not afraid, nor did they tear their garments, the king nor any of his servants who heard all these words. 25Nevertheless Elnathan, Delaiah, and Gemariah implored the king not to burn the scroll; but he would not listen to them. 26And the king commanded Jerahmeel the king's F36 son, Seraiah the son of Azriel, and Shelemiah the son of Abdeel, to seize Baruch the scribe and Jeremiah the prophet, but the LORD hid them. (Jeremiah 36:22-26 NKJV)

During the middle ages after the entire bible was assembled into one book, efforts were made to destroy it from the face of the earth, many hundreds of copies were confiscated and burned. Many hundreds have decried it over the years and have attempted to bring it to naught. But, since the first printing of it, it has been a continual best selling and has over shadowed the best of the great books by famous authors. It remains the perennial best selling book world wide. Try as they may to discredit it, the infidel and skeptic make no lasting impression upon it.

Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away. (Mark 13:31 NKJV)
