Viewing Differences in GOP, Tea Party, Libertarianism, Fanaticism

What conservatives need is to be united! It often seems to become hair-pulling time when you see the widespread differences. The problem is, some have made the self determination that their pet preferences are mandatory or they’ll take their ball and go home. I visualized this dilemma even before the Tea Party successfully assisted some of their favorites to win elections.
Rick Perry has come on the scene with the credentials for a president. Yet he comes out swinging with words of criticism towards Social Security which are true words, but too drastic sounding. Social Security is in deep need of being replaced with a viable alternative. Paul Ryan came out with such a plan included in a massive budget overhaul that could pull this nation out of the doldrums. He was scorned.
The fact is, that Social Security absolutely has to be replaced. In the very near future, it is going to be insolvent, and will become an unsustainable burden upon this nation. Face it. I am dependent upon Social Security. But something has to be done or millions of elderly are going to suffer in 15 to 20 years from now. Both Paul Ryan and now Rick Perry are trying to get that across to people. Mitt Romney, who knows the condition of Social Security prefers to continue to play political football with it. He says we don’t need to privatize Social Security, we need to SAVE it. The vast majority of Democrats run on that political farce also. IF, they intend to save Social Security, let us see a viable plan to do so!
Taxation heavy enough to save Social Security, is suicidal. To attempt to raise taxes enough to sustain Social Security will once again send this nation’s economy into a tailspin. Politicians have attempted to figure out the solution to this dilemma for decades. George W. Bush suggested that it somehow be privatized or at least partially so. Like Paul Ryan, he was scorned for the mention of it. It is past time to stop the political football and all politicians try to cooperate in finding a viable alternative.
The basic Tea Party philosophy is that of having a peanut sized government by the end of February 2013. Ron Paul is the only man they can depend upon to try and accomplish that.
They would have no department of education, no IRS, no income tax, no Federal Reserve Board, no Medicare, No Social Security, No Welfare of any kind. And all this to be accomplished immediately.
This route would be as disastrous as the path we are presently on, that of turning the government into a socialized monarchy.
I have read some interesting statistics which show where the preferences of different groups indicate a lack of thorough understanding. For one instance many of the tea party enthusiasts would eliminate the Department of Education. The fact is, it should be eliminated, but, the American voters are overwhelmingly against it. So why make it an issue. The states have the rights and the obligation to school our children. The government has no such right. But the point is, unless the American public is informed and ready to accept such a move, there is no need to try and make a fool of oneself in running on that point. The same applies to most of the excesses now in the hands of the federal government. Almost all of the controversial subjects are those which do not belong to the federal government to begin with.
But these types of change are difficult to come by and should be explained to the people of this great nation. Things that are shoved down people’s throats as was the obnoxious health care fiasco, always divide. They never bring unity.
States rights are the most important things which are now causing national confusion because they no longer are states affairs. No candidate can win in the election coming in 2012, on one or two points. Smaller government, states rights, deficit reduction, jobs, defense, illegal immigrants, and on and on. All must be addressed with wisdom and in collusion with the American people. But honesty and reason needs to prevail on the campaign trail.
To base ones vote on one or two items is infantile. Any candidate who emphasizes his philosophy on abortion alone, will fail. If sealing the border only, he will fail. We need one with a reasonable, sensible and justifiable approach to making this nation strong and prosperous once more.
Polls can tell us more than some people think. A good example is, the eliminating of the Department of education. As I said above, it ought to be put back into the hands of the states. BUT! Polls show that when asked about eliminating the federal DOE, 74% oppose such a move and only 24% favor it. I think those figures would be reversed if the voters were made thoroughly aware of the implications. But, there is no need to lose an election over something that is not going anywhere. At least until the people have received a thorough explanation of what such a change would be.
Since we are supposed to be a government of the people, by the people and for the people, why should we argue over points when the majority wants, or think they want, it a certain way. I realize that I am much smarter than the rest of you, but I try not to run for office based on that. (Chuckle, snort!)
