This is a very tantalizing question which challenges one to believe that bible truths are absolute and inviolable. For those who do not believe it to be so, will find inexpiably seeming contradictions. But they are not contradictions at all and are even evidence of the integrity of the scriptures. Following are some scriptures which say that some did see God
Then the LORD appeared to him by the terebinth trees of Mamre, as he was sitting in the tent door in the heat of the day. (Genesis 18:1 NKJV)
Then Moses went up, also Aaron, Nadab, and Abihu, and seventy of the elders of Israel, and they saw the God of Israel. And there was under His feet as it were a paved work of sapphire stone, and it was like the very heavens in its clarity. But on the nobles of the children of Israel He did not lay His hand. So they saw God, and they ate and drank. (Exodus 24:9-11 NKJV)
There are several other similar scriptures which indicate that someone saw God. Yet, we have a number of scriptures which specifically say the we cannot see God. Read these.
No one has seen God at any time. The only begotten Son, who is in the bosom of the Father, He has declared Him. (John 1:18 NKJV)
…which He will manifest in His own time, He who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings and Lord of lords, who alone has immortality, dwelling in unapproachable light, whom no man has seen or can see, to whom be honor and everlasting power. Amen (1 Timothy 6:15-16 NKJV)
And again, there are other scriptures which are similar to these which indicate that no one has, or can, see God. It is much more simple to explain the meaning of the ones which say you cannot see Him than the one which say they did, so let us clarify the easy ones first.
First of all, God is a spirit…something which is not composed of any physical materials. This means that there is no light reflection from them therefore no image is sent to your visual nerves and so they are not formed in the mind. Humans cannot see spirits…period. So that takes care of the fact that no one can see God.
But to investigate the scriptures professing that some have seen God, brings a little more technical explanation. There are two possibilities of how these were seen. On is that God appeared to them in a dream or vision, which he often did, especially in the Old Testament.
In these cases, the ones who were recipients of these views, were given the imagination or mental vision of God in whatever shape or appearance He desired for them to see.
Similarly, as a vision, God had the ability to appear before man in any form he chose, even a physical form which actually registered through their visual system. A good example of this is when He appeared to Moses in the form of a burning bush and spoke from that bush. Yet, the bush was not consumed. (Exodus 3:2) (Mark 12:26) and (Luke 20:37)
Often, as in Exodus 3:2 cited above, the scriptures refer to an or the Angel of the Lord and is referring to God, or Jesus who was also God. This can be determined by the language used. For instance, this very scripture Exodus 3:2, continues their conversation on and in verse 6 this Angel makes this remark:
Moreover He said, "I am the God of your father--the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob." And Moses hid his face, for he was afraid to look upon God.
So, it can be understood that no human has seen God as He is, and no one will, until they are dead and are in the spiritual realm where we will be like Him…read this:
Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God! Therefore the world does not know us, because it did not know Him. Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is. And everyone who has this hope in Him purifies himself, just as He is pure. (1 John 1-3 NKJV)

Top-level comments on this article: (1 total)Many are believing that this so called god was just negative beings from other worlds long ago here to lie to us, decieve us and brainwash us to believe they were the high almighty ones or one who created us. Nonsense. The world is waking up to this and it is being televised on the History station. There is no God the way many believe just other life out there similiar to us that spiritually fly to worlds, incarnate and influence.
Many back then saw taller more intelligent beings so of course in their innocense can believe anything that was told to them, thus documenting it as knowledge.
