A Justice Department Press Release dated August 11, 2011, announces a diamond which will be auctioned off to the highest online bidder. This is probably only once in a lifetime a diamond such as this will be offered by online bidding. The U.S. Marshals Service is to conduct the auction

Here is a description on how the diamond was forfeited in to the hands of the Justice Department;

[The diamond was seized during an FBI undercover investigation in 2006 that resulted in the conviction of Paul Monea for money laundering. Monea is serving time in an Ohio federal prison with a scheduled release date in 2018. The diamond was initially forfeited to the government by a district court judge in 2007. Legal claims delayed the process until March, when the final forfeiture was ordered and the U.S. Marshals Service became responsible for selling the diamond, with proceeds to be deposited into the U.S. Department of Justice Assets Forfeiture fund. “This precious gem is sure to generate interest worldwide,” said U.S. Marshal Pete Elliott of the Northern District of Ohio.] (U.S. Justice Department press release: August 11, 2011)

I forgot to mention, each bidder must put up a refundable deposit of $180,000 before submitting a bid. I also forgot to mention that the minimum bid is $900,000. But you must remember, $180,000 of that is already paid leaving you only $720,000 to pay if you submit the minimum. Your wife will be wildly in love with you…or will be seeking a divorce. I promise.

The best of luck to each of you.
