Evidence For A Revealed God: The Admirable Honeybee

The contention that God (Jehovah) exists is either true or untrue. There can be no partial or imagination of it, He does exist or He does not exist, so let’s not dilly-dally about the subject as some attempt to do. Some try to say, if you believe in Him, then He is real to you. Stop it. If I believe in something that is none existent, then I am wrong. Yet , if He is real and you do not believe in Him…You are wrong!

So, if He does exist, and is the true creator and sustainer of the entire realm of physical matter, would such a being not reveal Himself to his subjects? If He revealed Himself to mankind, yet had reason not to reveal Himself to the point of positive, undeniable existence, would He not be able to do that also?

So what are the factors which can furnish us the evidence to convince us of His existence while still leaving enough room to allow those who choose to reject Him to do so? There are several, any one of which could convince an honest heart if they, indeed, were not trying to reject Him.

First, let us take morality. Morality is an attribute which could not have developed outside of being instilled in the makeup of humans. Morals could not have evolved from non-morals. This is also true of the varying instincts within various animals and even insects. Take a honeybee for an example.

Often honeybees will create their honey factory in a hollow tree. In the deep south, there are numerous such trees in the forest and are referred to as “bee trees”. I am not aware of the range of bees, they may also exist in many other places. But the ‘worker’ bees will roam up to a few miles from their tree in search of adequate amounts of nectar from which they can build their honeycomb and create the honey. But the amazing thing about the bee, even if she has wandered all over several acres of land in any or all directions, when she has accumulated a sufficient amount of materials, she does not hesitate.

You might think, how on earth can that tiny bee, wander about through the clover and/or wild flowers, and still remember her way home. But without fail, she will rise up circling as she mounts and then, take an arrow straight flight to the tree. Without fail. Old timers used to watch a honeybee as she circled upwards and then watch closely the azimuth home. They could then attempt to follow that azimuth and find the tree, from which they would extract some honey.

Sometimes they could not find the tree, and often when they did, it was a considerable distance off their assumed path. This showed that the bee was much more accurate in her sense of direction than man even after the bee had shown them. Incidentally, this is where the old saying “make a bee-line home”. Again, the old timers often used that phrase when telling a child to go straight home.

The honey bee is one of God’s most amazing creations. Their sense of direction and knowledge of the way home is only a tiny bit of bee magic. Notice these features:

Honeybees wing flap approximately 200 times per second. A bee can fly up to about six miles at speeds up to fifteen miles per hour.

The honeybee is the only known insect that produces food which is eaten by humans. And this food is the most marvelous of all food. Listen to this: It is the only food that includes all the substances necessary to sustain life, including enzymes, vitamins, minerals, and water; and it's the only food that contains "pinocembrin", an antioxidant associated with improved brain functioning.

A colony of bees consists of 20,000-60,000 honeybees and one queen. Worker bees are female, live for about 6 weeks and do all the work.

Of these worker bees, some gather the proper ingredients and secrete their own chemicals to form the waxy comb, one of the most precisely engineered components imaginable. Other workers gather the proper ingredients and secrete their chemicals to produce the delicious and very nutritious honey. The colony also has numerous male warrior bees which guard the hive from intruders and honey scavengers. One flabby repulsive queen bee who lays all the ir eggs and she is surrounded by a bunch of drones whose only function is to breed the Queen.

And you thought the lives of humans were unfair! Sometimes, the warrior bees do take a spell and slaughter a bunch of these low lives who only eat the honey and breed the queen. I can’t say I blame them.

I've always been fascinated by how Bees operate, but never wanted to get close enough to find out! LOL- Good and interesting article Joel...as usual- I say this: "Either way we can't be disappointed when we die- if God exists- we'll know it- if not, we won't know anything anyway. I go by the principle that if God doesn't exist neither does any kind of afterlife- if God's not going to be there, I wouldn't want to go. Just a thought......Thanks- Always-Ella
