Still More Effort To Understand The Triune Godhead, As One!

There is widespread disagreement as to the three entities who make up the Godhead as given in the Holy Bible. It encompasses the gamut of understanding. Some, including all those who accept the Koran as authentic, believe there is only one God which is singular and shares the position with no other. And the other extreme of course is completely leaving the idea of the biblical Godhead and having dozens or even hundreds of different gods.

But for those who do accept the Holy Bible as being the inerrant word of God, have to contend with it’s teaching of the three-person Godhead. There can be no argument that there is such teaching in the bible. It might be argued that the words are only symbolic and so there might be only one. But that is not true. It is definitely taught in non-symbolic language that there are three entities in the Godhead. The are recognized as the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Understanding them is somewhat of another matter.

Humans, constructed of physical materials the same as that of all living matter, AND, non-living matter, require other physical matter for sustenance, and every thing we can comprehend is physical. Face it…we cannot fathom any other type of existence. And, even though we may think we can barely imagine it, we can’t.

God is a Spirit (John 4:24) and a spirit is not, nay, cannot be physical, at least not on a permanent basis. We can know this for several reasons. First, all physical matter is subject to deterioration. Over time, it will decay and be destroyed. But for other reasons, we can see that God, has abilities far beyond that of anything physical. For instance, we are told: For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them. (Matthew 18:20)

There is no explanation in the physical realm as to how a personage could meet with a few people gathered somewhere in the United States while physically meeting with a few in the far east. Or even just a few miles apart.

And Jesus says that when he returns, every eye shall see him. Does that mean that we will see him coming and those on the other side of the earth will have to wait until he circumvents the world? Of course it does not.

Spirits are not subject to space, time or anything of a physical nature. Mental interaction is, as I said in the beginning, beyond the comprehension of mortals.

Since there are no physical characteristics, there is no reason three entities cannot be one. When one has infinite knowledge, infinite wisdom, infinite power, there is nothing left for him to have. When two or three have these same degrees of knowledge, wisdom and power, there is nothing…Nothing on which for them to disagree. So they are one.

The Apostle Peter tells us:

But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up. (2 Peter 3:10)

Remembering that passage of scripture, read this one by the apostle Paul to the Corinthians:

In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. (1 Corinthians 15:52)

Now combine the two and figure it out. When, as Jesus returns, the heavens will pass away with a great noise (and explosion) so great that every molecule shall melt with fervent heat…you can count on it, we will be changed! From a human in physical form to a spirit which is not affected by physical characteristics.

Do you know how I can say that with confidence that it is accurate? Here is a confirmation from the apostle John.

Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is. (1 John 3:2)

We shall be like him? What is he like? He is a spirit and so shall we be. Now, the spirit is nothing physical. How then can we see him and others? I don’t know. But it is not only obvious, but is proven by what John says…we will be manifested in some way, for we shall see him as he is!. Perhaps we will appear to be physical, but keep in mind there will be no sun, moon or stars…all physical, but rest assured God will provide us with light, some kind of vision and recognition. And, all will be far superior to that of the physical.
