Less than two weeks ago, this writer posted an article entitled: “Fourteen year serial rapist at large: FBI seeks public’s assistance”. The news is in the papers and on the streets, the police arrested the suspected rapist on Friday.
Arrested was, Aaron Thomas, a 39 year old unemployed truck driver living in New Haven, Connecticut in a two story house with his girl friend. Previous information stated that he was wanted on 11 cases of rape, or attempted rape, but they now state he was wanted on 17 cases of rape and “other attacks”, all of which were connected according to DNA tests.
Police reported that, shortly after placing him in custody, he attempted to commit suicide but was stopped and taken to the hospital where they treated and released him. They also stated that Thomas asked when he was arrested, “Why haven’t you picked me up sooner?” He described himself to the authorities himself as having "a Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde" personality regarding women.
Thomas was brought before a New Haven Superior Court judge in a hearing today and ordered him held under a $1.5 million bail.
