Tamworth, Australia is located in the New England section of New South Wales, a town with an urban population of about 43,000.
On Tuesday, February 8, 2011, police were called to a residence on Mountview Crescent where a 19 year old unidentified woman had been drinking with another woman when they got into an argument. As the argument flared, it became physical and in the process, the other woman bit off a part of the thumb of the 19 year old. She then left the house.
Police were able to find the other woman, a 28 year old, farther along the Mountview Crescent. She was taken into custody and brought to the Tamworth Police Station. She was denied bail and was to appear in Tamworth Local Court today. She was charged with recklessly causing grievous bodily harm.
It may be that one should be hesitant to fight with an Aussie. It seems this is not nearly the only case, but rather one among many. Apparently, biting is a favorite offensive weapon. But then, we have them here also.
The Australian Perth Now newspaper , shows that, on January 27, a man brought a piece of his ear into the hospital in Perth in an Esky, (an Australian brand of cooler), describing his fight as “vicious”. A 21 year old male was arrested in the case and charged with causing grievous bodily harm and common assault.
Here in the U.S., In Sheboygan, Wisconsin, on December 8, 2010, a 79 year old man called for police and an ambulance after his 57 year old wife bit about half his tongue off during a kiss! They were outside singing Christmas Carols. The account says the wife threw a coffee cup at the emergency responders, and blew a horn in a policeman‘s ear. For more details on this one, Click Here.

Come on Paul, some are gentle. My wife and I have been on a 55 year honeymoon and she has yet to bite me. Thanks for writing and the comment.
Good Grief!! :-( Great article about a really awful phenomenon. You did a great job, daddy. :-)
Thank you Linda for reading and commenting, the moral of this story is, when visiting Australia, be sure and stay out of fights. Daddy
Wow is all I can say to this. I hold my hand up to getting into fisty cuffs in my younger days, and thankfully always came off the best. I shudder to think what would have happened if I hadn't.
Thanks Joel for the story
Keep well
KacyThank you Kacy. I'm glad that I was a fairly calm fellow in my youth. I never had a real meaningful fight. I got smacked on the jaw once, without knowing why. I regained my balance and started to go into the guy but two fellows held him and one held me back. So he got away with it. That was Army days when I was in good shape...and a little meaner than I was at home.
