Joran Andreas Petrus van der Sloot was born in Arnhem, Netherlands on August 6, 1987. He is the son of the late Paulas van der Sloot
Joran appears on the international scene after the family has moved to Aruba, a territory of the Netherlands, and where Paulas is employed by the government and is a judge in training there. The time is May 30th, 2005. A group of newly graduated girls from Birmingham, Alabama USA , graduates from the upper class Mountain Brook's High School have been treated to an exciting trip to this Caribbean paradise island.
When these men were brought in for questioning they told police they had dropped Natalee off at her hotel and knew nothing further of her whereabouts.
Joran was arrested twice but after investigation was released due to insufficient evidence. The two Kalpoe brothers were arrested three times each with the same results.

On May 30, 2010, exactly 5 years from the date of Natalee Holloway's disappearance, Joran is known to have been seen at a casino in Ica Peru, with a Peruvian lady named Stephany Flores, then surveillance cameras recorded them walking to the hotel where Joran was staying and hotel cameras picked them up as they entered his room. Three to four hours later, the cameras recorded his leaving along with luggage. Stephany Flores' body was discovered on Tuesday evening, June 1, in his room with a broken neck. Police later arrested him in neighboring Chile and returned him to Peru where he is being interrogated.
Flores' father told reporters the autopsy results may take up to two weeks and they will then be able to tell if the broken neck was the cause of her death and whether or not she had engaged in sexual acts with van der Sloot since there was no evidence of sexual assault . In the meantime they reportedly may exhume the body to check for DNA samples under her fingernails. It's hard to retain my faith in human nature when I read of people like this.I read somewhere...can't find it now, that she had won some big money at the casino, several thousand dollars, plus she had some, (1000 or 5000) which her dad had given her, none of that money was found.
