The ‘First Cause’ (Cosmological) Argument For The Existence Of God

Cosmology: The study of the physical universe considered as a totality of phenomena in time and space.(Answers-The online concise dictionary).
All physical things must have a beginning and an ending. The only alternative to this statement is infinity. The human mind cannot comprehend infinity. For instance, if time is infinite, then this means that it had no beginning. You cannot count down from infinity to now, just as you cannot count upward to infinity. Why? because there was no place to start counting. There is no place to stop counting if you are counting forward. So it would be impossible to reach a specific point in time. There is no time in eternity.
Atheistic scientists contend the universe is about thirteen and three-fourths billions of years old. This period has been arrived at after many changes. Each change has been an increase, simply because they determined that their supposition of evolution (both of the cosmos as well as life) would have required many times more than their first estimates. This gives them time to estimate the earth at about three and one-half billion years. The sun is a little older by about 30 million years.
Creationists who firmly believe in the strict construction of the Bible vehemently deny this. But these ages are not our subject. It matters not, what age one may assign to the universe, it does not answer the question of origin. The forming of a singularity from nothing (no space, no time, no physical matter) that became so astronomically dense and compacted that it exploded and created all this immense universe with incalculable amounts of matter, is far greater fantasy even than Hercules holding the earth on his shoulders.
Any human, a child over 10 years old, knows that such an occurrence is beyond the realm of science, of physics, of reason and of reality. I am astounded that men who hold Ph.D's have been able to fantasize themselves to the point of even suggesting such. And that many others have chosen to accept that.
The question is...start at any age you wish and any thing that exists or did exist at that time. Explain what caused that to happen or to exist. You can do it. Because behind ever fact, the blowing of the wind, a giant buried rock under a mountainside, tiny redbug (chigger), all had a cause for being here. Scientists can rightfully explain those things. So when they tell you the cause of some action or matter, ask them what caused that cause to exist or happen. It also had a cause. You can trace everything back until you do arrive at the universe. At that point, the singularity is not an adequate explanation and every human knows that. It eventually arrives at a point which cannot be explained...except by the existence of an almighty God.
The law of causality (cause and effect) states that: for every effect, there must be an adequate antecedent cause. The term "effect" can refer to an event, objects, processes, properties, variables, facts and states of affairs. Anything that exists or occurs, is an effect. And every effect has an adequate antecedent cause. AND, the causes are, themselves also an effect. Something caused them. This is why when it comes to the universe, a singularity which some says is no bigger than a pencil point dot, others say as large as a dime, is not an adequate antecedent cause...because it did not exist either. Something had to cause IT.
Only a spirit which is eternal could be the ultimate cause, because He is not an effect. He is the original cause without beginning, without ending, without matter, without space and without time.
This matter is very profound, very deep, difficult to perceive. No one can convince me, that the ancient writers, most of whom were uneducated, and certainly without the advanced knowledge in astrology, astronomy, paleontology, cosmology, and so on, could have written their portion of the Holy Bible creating a irrefutable being which could circumvent these otherwise insurmountable questions unless they received verbal inspiration from God. With all their Ph.D's, many of our present day scientists refuse to accept the only answer to their many quandaries.

Top-level comments on this article: (1 total)Great Joel! Keep writing and challenging the rest of us to ponder! Appreciate you and what you write!Thank you Marijo, I try but sometimes get to the point where I find it difficult to come up with something of interest. And when I do, it is usually controversial.MAYBE, just MAYBE them who protest so much will stop and think and be grabbed by the Creator of the Universe. Time is getting SO short. Someone (or someones) have to sound the alarm - watchman - no blood on his hands because he sounded the alarm - I never want someone's blood on my hands....I am sure from what you share that you don't either! Some people who read protest so loudly and violently that you wonder just who they are trying to convince. There is still hope for them - I suspect that some, deep inside their thinkers or their hearts really KNOW the truth but for some reason are afraid of it. I know that we aren't the only ones who pray for them - their families must too. Don't ever give up "sharing the truth in love"!Many scientists and serious students have come to the conclusion the Bible is indeed correct when they initially got into it trying to disprove it!
