What? A NEW Tea Party? Plagiarism, Or Dirty Politics?

The Nevada Tea Party filed a list of officers, a constitution and a list of bylaws on January 28 with the Nevada Secretary of State office. They also placed Jon Ashjian as their candidate for the senate seat held by Harry Reid, this November.
This might not be so mysterious except for the fact that none of the present "Tea Party" group know any of those involved in the new party.
The one suggestion this writer tends to believe accurate is as follows: Harry Reid's popularity ratings have presently reached a low of some 30-35%. He trails his two Republican opponents in the polls, each by about 10 percentage points. However, it is known that Senator Reid has a sizable campaign fund and is adept at fund raising. Thus, he is expected to run a hard race and possibly a very tight one with which ever of the Republicans are the final nominee. Due to this, it is surmised that by putting a candidate in a third party, especially with the conservative sound of the current Tea Party movement, that it will pull enough votes from the Republicans to allow Harry Reid to be re-elected.
This, if the above explanation is accurate, impresses me as another of the ruses this administration feels they can pull the wool over their constituents eyes and think those constituents are far too stupid to know what they actually want or need. Unless I also miss my guess, I believe you will see Harry Reid's popularity numbers grow smaller and smaller, from this and his bulldog determination to push a government run healthcare reform bill down the people's throats.
It is highly unlikely, that a singular one of the real "Tea Party" movement will fall for this scheme. It is more likely that some of Reid's own will decide to vote for them over him. The "Tea Partiers" are not out to start a new party. And all of them know that. Their intent is to show the Republican Party their strength in numbers to stir it back into the party it once was. That of limited government, strict construction of the constitution, personal freedoms and so on. It is highly likely that their requirements for a satisfactory platform will include a definite plan for a balanced budget, guaranteed freedom of speech, religion, relaxation of gun controls, no public funds for abortion and an agreed upon resolution for immigration reform.
No one has yet been able to speak with a genuine representative or spokesperson for this new party. The only telephone listed with their filings, was that of their party secretary, Las Vegas attorney Barry Levinson whose receptionist only says that he is not issuing any statements at this time. The story first broke via a reporter for the Las Vegas Star, Jon Ralston. The Sun also received an email from their appointed candidate, Ashjian, who told them, "I am not for Harry Reid. I have never been supportive of Harry Reid. My candidacy is real, the Nevada Tea Party is real and we are not going away."
There is more known of their attorney-secretary, than of any of the others, including their candidate. Levinson is most known for his defending porn star John Wayne Bobbitt on several occasions. He supported Obama in 2008, and has had known connections with the "Bush lied, people died" protest movement.
None of these leanings are typical of those who are of the tea party movement. Their constitution and other filings are available here:

Top-level comments on this article: (4 total)Joel,Interesting article, however, there is no "real" Tea Party anywhere. In Massachusetts, Scott Brown won because the Republican party put a million dollars and dozens of staffers into his campaign, not because he was Tea Party. In Texas, we have a Tea Party candidate for governor, but Sarah Palin, who praised "this beautiful movement" at the convention in Nashville, is coming here campaigning for our existing governor who is as entrenched in old boy politics at it's worst as anyone and, regardless of his rhetoric, is as bad of a big-government politician as anyone out there. In the New York senate district 23, the Tea Party candidate was roundly defeated by the Democrat. At the CPAC convention, Ron Paul won the straw poll presidential ballot and was booed by other attendees who voted for the other 5 who lost.If the Tea Party really wants to become viable, they will have to organize better and define their message. Right now, they just comprise the sum of the unhappy people. However, the unhappy people have no cohesive agreement on what they want changed.Case and point would be the suicide pilot in Austin who was initially hailed as some sort of anti-government hero but left behind a rambling note not only criticizing the IRS for his troubles, but also complaining about the government's inability to provide a national healthcare system.Hi Jean, thanks for the comment. If I understand the tea partiers correctly they do not intend to form any party nor apparently not to even agree...at least they are not agreeing. And, I for one don't much agree with their whole idea. I do believe we should scare the pants off of all of the current govrnment, including the so called conservatives. I am somewhat sympathetic towards their cause but, the fact that they did choose Ron Paul as no. 1 shows the lack of intelligence that comprise the group.I wrote an article recently indicating that we did not need a third party or even such a movement.
Joel, how are things? Now I had a few moments to write and of course read your work. As for third party my pitch is that it will be the separator. Why, well they know they can't keep many of these losers in office so divide and concur. A third party will only bring what the world has. Whats that; broken government that cannot join together for the common good. Just check it out. England, Germany, Italy, France, yes all fractured governments, divided and concur. Yes and moderates well are they, really? Check their works. You know Joel how long have I written to the issues. It amazes me, no bravado, that people don't get it. A great delusion. They get on TV and act is of what they want to do is some new invention. Frankly we will crumble because the Word says we will. The NWO already functioning and the "icing" going on as I type. What is needed is a major event to drive the world to acceptance. Best wishes. as always, Robert.Hi Robert, thanks for reading. Good to hear from you again. You are right as usual.
Thanks for sharing this wonderful article! I myself can't get a grip to what's tea party is for. :)Thanks.Terence
Great article Joel. I too am afraid that if a third party is formed we will only get more of the same and the end results will not be good. Thanks for sharing.
