Obama’s Ohio Speech Shows He Still Doesn’t Get The Point

After last Tuesday's vote in Massachusetts where the Republican candidate won the open Senate seat in a heavily Democratic state, brought shock to many of the Washington Democrats who had relished for one year doing whatever they wanted with the Republicans. Banning them from discussions on the issues, forcing bills to a vote without floor discussions, failing to accept for consideration, any Republican's proffered amendment or even their suggestions.
The shocking experience in Massachusetts was a "shot across the bow" for the president and the Democratic party. It sure enough stunned them, but you should read their retorts. Their arrogance will not allow them to be humbled by the experience. Even the president on Thursday in Lorain, Ohio, vowed to keep on fighting. In fact, someone counted the times he used the word "fight" in his speech and it was 20 times!! So there is no doubt about it, as the old west used to put it, "he is spoiling for a fight". What he still hasn't learned is that the voting public don't want to hear of his fights. It wasn't just the unpopular healthcare reform bill that won the election in Massachusetts, but much more of his arrogance and forcing unpopular bills on the public which they did not want.
His only acknowledgement of a mistake is contained in this quote made in his interview with George Stephanopoulos Wednesday night:
"That, I do think, is a mistake of mine," Obama said. "I think the assumption was if I just focus on policy, if I just focus on this provision or that law, or if we're making a good rational decision here, then people will get it."
He has entitled the Republican party the "no" party and has accused them of not offering any alternative plans for anything, only voting against everything the Democrats put on the table. That is typical of his incessant lying. The Republicans have offered a number of plans, amendments and other such revisions on these controversial bills but they were totally ignored by the majority party. In fact, it is my understanding they are compiling many of these provisions into an offering for presentation come campaign time...soon.
Other things which have gone against the president and his party, the worthless stimulus packages where the "no" party tried to tell them, the bailout packages where the "no" party tried to tell them, The "no" party would have gladly been the "yes" party for common sense healthcare reform, but not a government controlled health care system, not a system where all taxpayers were paying for abortions, where they were paying for better health care coverage for illegal aliens than for our own elderly.
Another thing which did not help them, was the constant lying that this would be deficit neutral. Everyone knows that was a lie. In order to make it appear neutral, they set it up that the taxes and fees would begin to pour in immediately, but the benefits would start in 2013. In other words, given a three year start on the financing, it would prove neutral at the end of that decade. After that it would show a sizable deficit annually.
This congressional campaign year will be extremely interesting to watch. The president and his party are far down in the polls now and my prediction is they will be much lower by November. Primarily because of their arrogance and insistence upon ignoring the minority party. They are not humbled by their recent losses in two gubernatorial races and a senate seat. They are angry, accusing it all on the lying of the conservatives. This angry, aggressive attitude has brought them down to where they are and will undoubtedly be their downfall.
President Obama was infuriated at a remark by Senator DeMint which has been quoted in several spots as: "If we're able to stop Obama on this, it will be his Waterloo. It will break him." But even this statement was misunderstood by him. He said that all the Republicans were out to accomplish was to break him. That is not correct, they are out to defeat his making big government bigger, controlling the healthcare industry, manufacturing industry and banking industry. The very things most Americans want them to defeat.
It appears that the big board used by the farmer, may have to be a bigger one to get the attention of our president and majority congress, before they create their own Waterloo.

The one I love is where Obama said he thinks he didn't talk enough to the American people. Not talk enough? I have never seen anyone crave so much attention! How many times has he spoken? Too many to count. Thanks for saying it.Thanks for reading and commenting, Nancy. At least I'll have one favorable comment.
Thanks, again, for you article, Joel. I usually agree with you. Thanks for commenting Jack.
If he waits just a few months I bet the republican party will offer a lot of suggestions for change... hopefully MarijoThanks for your comment Marijo, I suspect they have gone too far to recover, even if they tried.
