Most people who watched TV and/or kept up with the previous election, should well remember the incident of two uniformed "Black Panthers" standing outside a polling place in Philadelphia, giving voters menacing stares, making racial slurs and one wielding a nightstick. A third man had procured a credential as a Democratic poll watcher. The government filed suit against the three men charging them with voter intimidation. Lawyers spent months pursuing the case and the court had already entered a default judgment against them.
The Department of Justice career lawyers were about to secure sanctions against the three when they were abruptly stopped by their superiors. Court records show they career attorneys were seeking a default judgment and penalties against the men. Appointees, Thomas Perelli chief of the Civil Rights Division, with lawyers Loretta King and Stephen Rosenbaum, were involved in the dropping of the Black Panther case after it had already been won. They were sanctioned by a Kansas federal district court on December 30.
Representative Frank Wolf from Virginia has been pursuing the problem and after the Kansas court sanction, again proposed a re-opening of the case which was prejudicially blocked. Here is what he had to say about it.
This revelation, further calls into question the judgment of those responsible for the inexplicable dismissal of U.S. vs. New Black Panther Party. The pattern of withholding information is troubling - especially in light of the office's refusal to cooperate with congressional inquiries and subpoenas from the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights."
However, once again the Justice Department has essentially thumbed their nose at the congress. This case will not go away nor will it be hushed up during this election year. The problem beleaguered Democrats can add this notch into their belts and it will assuredly be a messy one. This entire situation stinks and is bound to be abhorred by all people of decency. And I believe there are still far more decent people in our nation than there are of the indecent.
Congress, including the Democratic majority, needs to regain their lawful position and accept their responsibility to restore the balance of power between them, the executive, and the judicial divisions of government. Right now they have become puppets of the presidential appointees. I see a voter revolt in the making and many of those we have elected have about ten months to get their act together, or join the many unemployed at the end of this year.

Does being elected (almost either party hands down) guarantee someone not being ethical, honest and frugal? Thanks again for the spotlight! MarijoMust be true, but these appointees are even worse, I think. Thanks for commenting, Marijo.
