Will Natural Laws Apply In Heaven?

If indeed, we are ever to answer this question with any degree of accuracy, we must determine what type of place heaven will be and what type of being we shall be. And in order to determine the answers to that we have to think deeply about what information is given us in the bible. We can start that discussion by getting some verses of scripture understood. Let's look at a few of those.

If one will read the 21st chapter of Revelation, you will see a picture painted of a city with 12 gates of various types of precious jewels and that God will wipe away all their tears, there will be no more dying, sorrow, crying or pain. It is my contention that these things, for the most part, are symbolic since the actual conditions are presently beyond the understanding of humans. We are physical beings and we are surrounded with physical materials a physical universe physical particles which form our atmosphere  and on and on. All of these things are physical, even space is physical.

The bible teaches us that there are two parts of the human being. One is the physical body and the other is the spirit of man, the soul. There is nothing spiritual about the physical body. There is nothing physical about the spirit of man. Death means a separation. The spirit (soul) leaves the body and the body is dead without the soul, it decays and returns to the earth where it originated. But the spirit which is given to each female gamete when it is fertilized, becomes a living soul. The soul is not physical, does not corrupt and cannot be killed. It will live forever and forever. We need to read a lengthy portion from 2 Peter chapter three: (Read it carefully)

"Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts, And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation. For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water: Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished: But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.
But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up'.
(2nd Peter 3:3-10)

That may sound like symbolic language but it isn't. It is intended that all physical matter shall be totally gone. And that is a certainty, just look at these brief scriptures which will explain. Paul, writing to the church at Corinth:

"So also is the resurrection of the dead. It is sown in corruption; it is raised in incorruption: It is sown in dishonour; it is raised in glory: it is sown in weakness; it is raised in power: It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body." (1 Corinthians 15:42-44)
"Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption." (1 Corinthians 15:50)

When it is all said and done, these scriptures explain what Peter tells us above. There will be no more physical matter. I realize that we cannot comprehend living only in spirit. But that is the way it will be. How else could one live forever without decay. All matter deteriorates and, if alive, dies. There will be nothing in heaven to decay, nothing for thieves to break through and steal. Nothing to be sick, nothing to hurt, nothing. We cannot conceive of this. But keep one thing in mind. God is a spirit and He has a desire that His children will be happy for eternity. Do not think, that it will be a dismal existence, simply there will not be a Hardees restaurant around the corner.

Now, to answer our title question. It is quite obvious that what we know as natural laws will not be applicable in heaven. These "natural laws" are needed for the functioning of those physical things which make up our physical bodies, our environment and our existence. None will be needed and none will be there. As our present universe is dependent upon them, they also are dependent upon physical matter for their existence.

You must understand that even though no physical matter exists, God is capable of making our existence appear to be physical. Whether or not that will be the case, we cannot know, but we do know that He is able. We also know that the physical attributes that give us pain, sorrow, fatigue, hunger and so on, will not be with us. No more flu bugs, no more gnats or mosquitoes, and nothing for them to bite if there were any. I think we'll be alright without Hardees.

Thanks again Marijo. Actually all of this is beyond the ability of a human mind to realize, so all we can do is meditate upon it and always keep in mind that God would never place his children, who've lived according to his word, to abide forever in a boring place or any condition which would make one regret being there!!
