Public (Voter) Opinion, Down The Drain

It is difficult, for me, to envision the thoughts in the back of most politicians minds these days. For the most part, they would seemingly commit any type of crime or sabotage to gain votes for their re-election. Yet, they foolishly revert to gutter language at will, giving them an appearance of a crude insect which crawled out of the slum filth. The unfortunate part of all this is, a vast majority of those who say such things, have followings who will praise them for it. Or at least defend them.
"Here I am, the only member of Congress who actually worked as an economist. And she's, this lobbyist, this K Street whore, is trying to teach me about economics."
The comment can be viewed on YouTube. He and his followers have defended the statement by referring people to the second definition of "whore", actually, on "Answers", the online dictionary, it is the third definition, which says "A person considered as having compromised principles for personal gain". But how many of you think that is what he had in mind when he spoke?
Today, I read that Arnold Swarzenegger included a hidden message in his veto comments, aimed at San Francisco Assemblyman Tom Ammiano, who had sponsored the AB1176 which had passed the Assembly and the Senate unanimously. Whether intentional or not, the first letter in each line, reading downward, spelled F--- You. Read the letter at: http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/object/article?f=/c/a/2009/10/28/MNBN1ABKB8.DTL & o=0
This seems entirely inappropriate for men who should be setting examples for the world to see, as well as our young people. I am grateful that my Governor two local Senators are men of strong ethics and moral principles.
And again, we are engulfed by those leaders who, aside from their gutter talk, are obviously in their positions for their own agenda and purposes, constituents be hanged.
The Obama administration refuses to accept that the majority of the voters do not want to see a government run health plan. They were shown that plainly before and during the August recess, even to the point that a number, including the president, said we did not have to have a "public option". But as soon as the George Soros gang got wind of that, the matter once more began hitting the fan.
Senator Baucus and his Finance committee, after weeks of haggling, finally got the facts, that a public option was not going to go through congress. So they removed it. Then when it was placed in the hands of Harry Reid, and the powers who drive this administration applied their pressure once more, Reid came up with a plan which was as transparent as was the "trigger" plan. He would re-instate the public option with an "opt out" feature. First of all the "trigger" and "opt out" plans were only schemes to get the bill passed.
As the president and the Democrats comprising the majority in congress, approval ratings continue to fall drastically, they continue to lambaste those who are disagreeing with them, whether it be Republicans, moderate Democrats, Independents, Fox News, Rush Limbaugh or Glen Beck. I don't believe I have seen so many involved in mass suicide since the Jonestown massacre in 1978. But, they never listen to the masses. The majority of American voters do not want a public option, or any other option which the government controls our healthcare. They do not want the Cap and Trade bill which will cause energy prices to get completely out of the reach of poor people. They did not want the massive bail out monies spent which have only improved executives bonuses.
But people like Harry Reid, who is presently running behind two of his challengers in the polls, continues to knuckle down to the pressure coming from above. The president himself, is insuring himself to be a one term president, even as many of his party are leaving him. But they are simply reaping what comes from being obligated to radical big money contributors. This administration owes far too much allegiance to MoveOn.org, UAW, and other such that they dare not go to the rest room, without permission. MoveOn.org warned Democrats yesterday that any one of them who joined with the Republicans to filibuster against the healthcare bill, would lose support from their claimed five million members.
Even Nancy Pelosi, whose favorable ratings is the lowest in congress, continues to demand a public option and at present has not the votes, in the lopsided House, to pass the present legislation. According to the majority whip, James Clyburn, they have just under 200 votes at the present time with 218, needed to win. Here is a quote from The Plumline:
"The document shows that 47 House Dems are committed No votes, and eight are Leaning No, for a total of 55. That means of 256 House Dems, just under 200 remain, and a dozen of those are listed as undecided. The bill needs 218 votes for passage."
It is shameful when 5 million(?) MoveOn.org members can pressure politicians more than their constituents are able to do.

Top-level comments on this article: (5 total)It's almost like talking to a stubborn toddler, isn't it? You tell them "no" and they just keep doing it over and over again. Even if you slap their hands, they go right back to it. The only difference is that the politicians don't even seem to leave the toddler stage of devlopment.Very interesting article. Thank you for sharing.CrystalThank you for reading and commenting Crystal. It's all a matter of money, when you come right down to it. They know they must appease their contributors, even if their constituents don't approve.
We all need to VOTE. And also realize that in the last days men will be lovers of self. Scary but I think we are getting CLOSER by the minute. Marijo
Buy offer a solution. I too am a conservative. I too am sick over what they are trying to do. But how do we stop them?It doesn't appear there is any way except for everyone who can to stay in touch with your legislators and tell them your views. I keep mine busy. But just pray until the 2010 elections and let's work to get more conservatives in then, if we don't go under before then.
Hello Joel,Sad that for every bad politician in power there are thousands of deceived constituents that have voted them into power.Sometimes I wonder if they are truly deceived or because they think that these politicians will support issues that will help their agendas?A good q question Shad. The bad part is, I'd say bout one half of the voters don't have a clue as to what to expect, they just vote for looks, color, speech or name they have heard. Thanks for the comment.
Good article. It seems that a lot of the politicians just doesn't seem to get it.Thank you Linda, for your coments. True, some do not get it. But mostly it is a form of greed. They think if they lose their heavy contributors they cannot stay in office. Hopefully they cannot, even with tons of money.
