The sexual urge, or drive, is a powerful one. There is no question about it. And there have always been perversions, illicit and irresponsible activities from it. But you have heard of the good old days' haven't you? Actually, as I just said, there were always breaches of morality and sinful practices, so don't think I'm trying to bash a certain time, group, or anything else without acknowledging that there is nothing new to report. But, there is difference, and I'm not at all sure that our new way is better...in fact I think it is worse. Much worse.
Take a quick look at the sexual antics you can read of almost every day. It appears that the large part of politicians are involved in some kind of immoral activities, be it other women or homosexuality. One case always comes back to my mind when I speak of these things. Back in November, 2007 there were nine men arrested in an upstairs male restroom of a Daytona Beach Sears store. Conducting a regular sex orgy in a public restroom! One was a high school teacher, another, a former city councilman.
But what prompted me to write this article is something I read only this morning. It was discovered that employee usage if their government computers to watch pornographic web sites within the National Science Foundation increased by six-fold over the past year. It was so extensive the inspector general of the agency, whose job is to uncover fraudulent grant money requests and usages, had to reduce the normal business in order to manage the internal increase in this illegitimate usage of company computers and time.
One senior executive was found to have spent 331 days watching porn on his government computer and also chatting with nude or partially nude women. After being discovered, the official retired, offering several excuses, one of which was that hewanted to help those poor foreign women who were doing this for sustenance
The independent foundation, funded by taxpayers to the tune of $6 billion in 2008, is tasked with handing out scientific grants to colleges, universities and research institutions nationwide. The projects it funds ranges from mapping the genome of the potato to exploring outer space with powerful new telescopes. It has a total of 1,200 career employees.(Porn surfing rampant at U.S. Science foundation-The Washington Times 9/29/2009)
It is reported the inspector general closed 10 employee misconduct cases in 2008, up from 3 in 2007... 7 of the 10 included pornography. There are still some cases pending. The inspector general's office is in place for investigating fraudulent or misuse of federal grants and the recovery of such funds. But the internal problems have detracted from their regular work. Obviously, there are a number of employees who have far too much time to spare. It seems that this type of waste would be a large part of what the administration should go for.

Top-level comments on this article: (10 total)Hi Joelmust say i disagree with you on this one.For one thing its NOT "illegitimate usage of company computers and time" - research shows this sort of thing can increase productivity. As for "One senior executive was found to have spent 331 days watching porn on his government computer and also chatting with nude or partially nude women" well in his defence he has 30 years experience in the computer industry and that is between the network administrator and his wife and is no one else's business.GOD BLESS AMERICAwith kind regardsTo each his own. I surely don't agree with you. It is only a perverted person who becomes obsessed with watching such tripe. And I don't believe the accuracy of such, improving productivity. I spent several years performing production studies and I can tell you, the person who produces most is the one who concentrates on the job at hand and works steadily at it. A short break occasionally helps but usually these sneaking around to watch porn, apparently take a lot of time at it.They say that the addictive watching of porn makes the real thing less desirable, less potent, and less satisfying. Research has proven it.
What has happened to their work ethics? Out the window! Thanks Joel for putting this out in the open. Another government waste! Thanks for writing this article.Best to you.NenitaThanks for commenting Nenita. Unfortunately, work ethics are almost extinct. The last few years I was in the work force, I would not have kept but one or two of the employees there out of about fifty, had it been up to me.
When an activity that is naturally subdued because of its distasteful nature is allowed to be exercised behind closed doors in private, as is internet sex, it will always explode in frequency.Great article, Joel. Thanks Ken, I appreciate your comments.
That is a question I have asked myself often. What is happening to our country? Why have we let ourselves be drawn away from our Bible teachings into a life filled with cheating, lies, adultry, racism, and even murder? It takes a terrible and great tragedy to bring us to our senses, but even that doesn't last long enough to keep us on the road to recovery. We quickly and silently slide back down into the mire of our own making. Thanks for a thoughtful and well written article, Joel.Hi Sandra, thanks for the comments. You're right. It reminds you of the ancient Israelites. All through the Old Testament, they left God, then came back, then left...about ever 40 years.
Joel,Thanks for writing this. I was tempted but I'm glad you did it! What a waste, both morally and ethically. I am concerned because we see this happening in the middle school years as well. Yes, our country is losing its sense of decency, values, and morality.NancyThanks for commenting Nancy. I agree and in my own opinion, it will mean the downfall of this nation. A nation does not become strong and prosperous by accident. And neither does it stay that way by accident. When greed and immorality take over, a nation or an empire will fall. History, and the Bible itself are full of examples.
"During the last days men (women) will become lovers of self....." This was an interesting read, Joel. MarijoThanks Marijo, I appreciate your remarks.
Very, very sad, Joel, that you question even needs to be asked. We are being flooded, poisoned with all of this, much in the name of free speech. Good article, as always!
joel, shame on you!Homosexuality is perverted amorality!?Are you telling us that you're an actual homophobe or that you're a closet gay?Actually, any psychiatrist worth his salt would tell you that if you're one of the first category, then youre surely one of the second, beyond a doubt;(shame on you,Joel, you sweaty sweetie, you're all steamed up under those coke bottle lenses;we are going to tell on you, to your wifey!) Jesus, who you call Lord, loved and didnt judge or exclude anyone, neither prostitutes nor the crippled and he preached that ALL people are Gods children. He would have certainly seen gays that way. America's electronic appetities are licentious but who are YOU to judge? How can you call yourself a Christian and not believe in Christ's precepts? You cannot understand what you read. I am neither a homophobe or a homosexual. You also cannot understand what you read in the bible. What I think of homosexuals is of no matter. What the bible says is. What the Apostles wrote were inspired words of Jesus via the Holy Spirit. And they do condemn the act. That had nothing to do with what the article I wrote was about. You can't even tell the theme of an article. But, I'll tell you right now, homosexuality is a perversion. It is certainly a mental problem. If it is natural, why then can you not reproduce with one of your natural partners? There is nothing natural about it."the large part of politicians are involved in some kind of immoral activities, be it other women or homosexuality"these are your words;I know what you said;shame on you!I said "it appears..." before the quote, but even so, what's your point?
God made me that way and its wrong to be anything else, other than I am,least of all,its wrong for me to deny my nature as God made me to satisfy your or some hateful Bible's expectations of me.Its both equally" an abomination" to eat shellfish as well as it is to sleep with men, according to that evil book.So why not eat a crab or a clam and join me in hell!I am sincerely sorry for you. But you are no worse off than many others. God makes no one homosexual. Everyone is subject to the laws of nature, and the laws of nature do not make homosexuals. I have had poor eysesight all of my life. God didn't make me that way. I was just one with some unexplained problems. And there have been many who have won the task of changing their homosexual mentaility to that of heterosexual. Besides that, even if you cannot change, you can remain celibate and still be saved in eternity.if a wife is barren and cannot bear children, that does not negate the love between her husband and she, nor does it negate the sanctity of their relationship anymore than the non child bearing innateness of gay or lesbian couples relationship ,negates the sanctity of their feelings of committment and love for each other;love,is love, pure and simple.Gays and lesbians have been granted the right to adopt, legally,so marriage rights are moot,in that regard .Your rigid, unfeeling bibilical thinking is primeval and cruel in its total non acceptance of things beyond your understandingNo it isn't. I've had dogs which I loved dearly, but I never wanted to have sex with them nor I did I want to marry them. You must be very a miseraable person, Anon, to think there is so many who don't understand things that you think you do. And you don't come close to convincing any.the bible specifically states that one whose vision is bad may not approach the temple(your glasses make you a persona non gratis) but you are blind in many ways as people who love each other don't compare with your lust for your dogs,in any way. What a sick thing to think!Did you love your father, brothers? The sick part is for one to have sexual desires for the same sex.
Do not compare a baron woman to that of the unnatural act that is homosexuality. It is not a sin to be baron. But it is the result of something gone biologically WRONG and henceforth a poor example to support your argument that homosexuality is natural.Don't look at me, I would never compare a barren woman to a homosexual. I don't know if you were referring to me but it was the other anonymous writer who did that. He was also the one who said homosexuality was natural.
