Nepal is a small nation in South Asia which borders Tibet on the north and India on the other three sides. It's southern portion is a humid climate similar to the adjacent India, but northward it becomes extremely mountainous and dry, entering into the south side of the Himalayan range. It has eight of the world's ten highest mountains, including Mount Everest.
(Beautiful photo of Nepal's Ice Lake) Nepal was the only nation in the world which was an official Hindu state until May 18, 2006 when it was declared a secular state. Then on December 28, 2007, the interim government declared it a Federal Democratic Republic. The sitting king, Gyanendra Bir Bikram Shah Dev, Will be the last king when elections are held in April 2008. This recently altered government has offered much more freedom of religion in that nation.
(Beautiful Nepali children and beautiful pets) I have corresponded with a young servant of Christ there for the past few years and have learned to love and appreciate him very much. He is striving to serve God the very best that he can with the limited resources that he has. As might be expected, the nation has a vast number of poor and many uneducated. I list below a letter I received from him today which I am passing on with his encouragement. The letter has been slightly edited to make it easier to read, but no thoughts have been altered:
Dear all in Christ;
We have another things for worship place which is changed the place in new place due to the lack of space. Some of us members have raise fund for to pay the cost for rent as monthly some of us is not enough. Most of the members are poor, widows, and jobless and retire for their work. So we have not enough 80$US at this moments to pay for the monthly room rent.
If you pass this on, our request to each members and church leaders may they raise fund for once time to manage to urgent thing to God be the glory. I will send picture later on if our mobile view work. Otherwise trust this letter in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Rest I will inform you and our work is also growing up. Members are coming to hear the word and new prospects are contacting to us to teach to them and feed the good food of God.
Let us know your prayer request and feed back thru your local church and lovely brethren advice and counseling to God be the glory in the field of God in NEPAL.
Yours in His love and service

I receive email similar to this frequently from many countries. Kenya, Zambia, Tanzania, India, Zimbabwe, Nigeria, South Africa, The Philippines, Ghana and more. I have, in times past corresponded with some from Romania and some from Russia. Most of those who inquire are hungry for the word of God: "Therefore said he unto them, The harvest truly is great, but the labourers are few: pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he would send forth labourers into his harvest. (Luke10:2 KJV)
